Here at JensonUSA, we have a wide selection of screwdrivers for bikes. Since most modern bikes are held together with hex bolts and quick release axles, screwdriver heads have become somewhat rare in biking, but they do exist. For example, front and rear derailleurs both require a screwdriver for proper adjustment. Some companies even make screwdrivers specifically designed for derailleurs. Biking aside, screwdrivers are also commonly used in day to day life as well.
Screwdrivers are typically separated into two categories based on head type. As you probably are aware, the two head types are phillips and slotted. The type of screwdriver you need is determine by the type and size of the head on the screw. Some screw heads are designed to work with both a phillips and slotted screwdriver. Since you can’t really predict which size and type of head a screw is going to have. It is a good idea to have a couple screwdrivers of both types in several sizes. Some screwdrivers are sold individually, some are sold in pairs with both heads, and some are sold in a set with multiple sizes of both head types.
Screwdrivers consist of handles which are commonly composed of plastic, rubber or wood. The handle is also ergonomically shaped, so it is comfortable in your hand. From the handle a metal rod extends that has the screwdriver head located at the end of it. Some screwdriver heads are made of a separate material such as heat-treated steel to increase the durability and longevity of the head. If a screwdriver’s head gets worn out, it is a good idea to replace it, so it doesn’t damage the screw you are using.
