KALI PROTECTIVES
As of now, no safety technology exists that can completely prevent injury, but Kali realizes that they can significantly reduce the chance of trauma. Kali Bike always holds themselves to one question, “Are we as helmet manufacturers doing enough?” The more Kali Protectives learns and the more they understand, the better the protective gear they can produce. That is the goal at Kali - to deliver the best protection available to riders. Kali Helmets uses 6 different technologies in their various helmets to provide the safest products possible to their riders:
Composite Fusion – Composite Fusion features in-molding technology merging the shell and foam liner, better impact energy management, increased dynamic range, and its smaller, lighter, and stronger. In a crash, less mass attached to your head reduces impact g-forces acting on your brain. Helmets that use Composite Fusion include the Alchemy, Chakra, Chakra Child, Danu, Prime, Ropa, and Therapy.
Composite Fusion Plus – Most helmet manufacturers used dual density foam assembled like layers of a cake. Helmets equipped with Composite Fusion Plus have a layer of multi-density cone-shaped foam that intersects with a layer of softer foam that surrounds the head. During a crash, the cones act as a progressive damper to absorb different levels of impact. The cones also direct impact away from the head. Helmets that use Composite Fusion Plus are the Maya, Lunati, Maraka, Phenom, Loka, City, Alpine, Maya, and Loka.
Low-Density Layer – Kali began experimenting with materials to help reduce low-G or sub-concussive impacts that are below the threshold of their current foam liners. They discovered a type of vinyl nitrile which hardens on impact to help provide low-G protection. Kali called the new material Bumper Fit. Bumper Fit reduces rotational impact forces up to 25% and reduces low-G linear forces up to 30%. Helmets that use the Low-Density Layer include the Shiva 2.0 Carbon, Shiva 2.0, Interceptor, Maraka, Tava, Phenom, Interceptor, Alchemy, Therapy, Maya, and Alpine.
Composite Fusion Three – Composite Fusion Three features pyramid-shaped multi-density EPS foam which is better at dissipating forces and still performs as a progressive damper to absorb different levels of impacts like Composite Fusion Plus. Composite Fusion Three helps distribute energy laterally and allows Kali to create a smaller and lighter helmet. The Kali Shiva and Viva are the only helmets that use Composite Fusion Three.
Composite Fusion Squared – Composite Fusion Squared combines multi-density foam and dual direction geometric cone shapes. It features interior and exterior energy management. The Kali Tava is the only helmet that uses Composite Fusion Squared.
Nano Fusion – Nano Fusion is a self-healing foam infused with carbon nanotubes. It dissipates impact energy more efficiently than traditional EPS in a smaller volume. Helmets that use Nano Fusion include the Shiva 2.0 Carbon, Shiva 2.0, Interceptor, and Tava.
